Ian Hamilton Finlay's Poor.Old.Tired.Horse. (POTH; 1962-1968) is one of the most important visual poetry magazines internationally. POTH not exclusively documenting concrete poetry, became, through its increasingly ambitious visual layouts, an exploration of the graphic potential of the printed page. The magazine began to publish an increasing amount of visual poetry starting with issue 5. Finlay would eventually distance himself from visual poetry in favour of his Wild Hawthorne Press, poetic objects and his monumental 'Little Sparta'.
