Splitting: Four Corners, 1974

Gordon Matta-Clark

Splitting: Four Corners, 1974, 322 Humphrey Street, Englewood, New Jersey

A cut in half house folds slightly open. Then the four corners on the second floor are cut out. Matta-Clark rids the house of his banality. He points to the alienating uniformity of suburban architecture and undermines the stability of the middle-class home.
