Bram Bogart
1921 - 2012
Born in Delft (Netherlands), died in Sint-Truiden (Belgium).
First working expressionist, Bram Bogart starts in the 1950s to mine the arsenal of linear, geometric forms. He experiments with mixing oil paint with watercolours, resulting in matière paintings, but then with much more material and much more colour than other exponents. His paintings become at the same time signals and objects.
