Claire & Paul Bataille - Ibens
After Claire Bataille and Paul Ibens graduated simultaneously, both with high honors, from the National Institute of Architecture and Urbanism in Antwerp in 1962, they founded their design firm ‘Bataille – Ibens Design’ in 1968. Their style can be situated as a combination of minimalism, post-modernism and late modernism, with functionality at its core. Their designs and ideas for homes, interiors, furniture, and utensils, are innovative yet timeless, with simplicity, balance and calm being primary interests pursued. This designer’s duo has collaborated with several companies and has also received many awards for their work, which is highly acclaimed abroad. They are one of the first generations to shape the discipline in interior architecture in Belgium and have therefore had a great deal of influence. Their prefabricated building system ’78 Plus’ and their ‘H2O Table’ are some of their best-known designs.
