Waltercio Caldas

° 1964

Born in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), lives in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

Waltercio Caldas is known primarily for his work in sculpture.

In recent years, Caldas has turned towards an examination of the history of art in which Velazquez’ Las Meninas in particular has assumed a central role.

The book and the arts of the book constitute an important platform for his investigations, and Caldas has been involved in a recent re-publishing of the literary legacy of João do Rio, one of the early twentieth century’s premier chronicler of carioca street life.
