M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

From the unique mix of Pop, Conceptual and appropriation art Jeff Koons has created his own engaging and often controversial style.

One of his most famous sculptures is a 3,6 metres stainless steel balloon animal. Balloon Dog is part of Koons’ “Celebration” series. The series from 1994 features five coloured sculptures in red, magenta, blue, orange and yellow.

Speaking about the artwork, Koons told Christie’s: “When I made ‘Balloon Dog’, I wanted to make a piece that reflected the joy of celebrating a birthday or a party. The balloon dog is materialism and monumentality. In many ways, it is like the Trojan horse.”
